New Consul General Appointed
The Honorable Peter MacKay, Canada's Minister for Foreign Affairs, announced an appointment of a new Head of Mission for Seattle Consulate General, Consul General Peter Lloyd. Consul General's prior assignments included postings in Port of Spain, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and in New York. Most recently, he completed a two-year secondment to the Canadian International Development Agency.
Consul General Lloyd will be responsible for the Consulate's activities in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska, including overseeing the activities of the Honorary Consulate in Portland.
Canada-America Society of Oregon
Canadian Honorary Consul is pleased to announce the formation of the Canada-America Society-Oregon Chapter.
Organizing and supporting the growth and activity of this Canada-America Society advances the Honorary Consul's goals of increasing awareness of Canada among Americans, supporting cultural, business and national ties between Oregon and Canada, and furthering connections between those with Canadian heritage who live here. The Society is planning many Canada-related events for the next year, so check here often for updates.

AOI Business Viewpoint
The Honorary Consulate is happy to announce the publication of the Associated Oregon Industries (AOI) Business Viewpoint dedicated to Canada and Canada's energy supply.
Associated Oregon Industries is the largest lobbying and public policy association representing business interests in Oregon. The March-April issue of AOI Business Viewpoint covers issues of trade with Canada, highlights Canada as America's largest energy supplier, as well as discusses the alternative energy sources that are explored across the border. Guest contributors, Minister of Energy for Alberta, and Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum for British Columbia, write about their provinces' connection to Oregon, and the opportunities for cooperation, trade and energy reliance that emphasize the interconnection between Canada and Oregon.

Canadian Studies Program at Portland State University
PSU is the largest university in Oregon, and the only school that offers a Canadian Studies Certificate. The Program's goal is to raise the profile and deepen comprehension of Canadian economic, social and political issues in the United States, to educate PSU students and the surrounding community about our neighbor to the North, to bring Canadian scholars and speakers to the US, and to provide US scholars opportunities to study in Canada. Canada Days
Held between the end of October and the beginning of November, this event highlights Oregon's connection to Canada. During the two-week period, a series of lectures and workshops are held on topics ranging from the First People in Canada to doing business in Canada.
